Hub for Spiritual Life

The Hub for Spiritual Life is a place for students to explore their Christian faith and engage with the ÃÛÌÒÇι«Ö÷community in vibrant experiences of worship and spiritual care.

At the foundation of ÃÛÌÒÇι«Ö÷University's vibrant campus life is a deep and abiding commitment to spiritual growth and Christian community. Through transformative ministries, meaningful experiences, and intentional discipleship, the University invites students, faculty, staff, and alumni to encounter the living God in ways that shape their lives and futures. Central to this mission is the Hub for Spiritual Life (the Hub), which serves as the spiritual heartbeat of the ÃÛÌÒÇι«Ö÷community. Under the leadership of Tim Spivey (’97, MS ’00, MDiv ’00)—the inaugural vice president for spiritual life—the Hub provides guidance, support, and resources that nurture faith formation and discipleship across all corners of the University.

Your investment in the Hub would not only strengthen our capacity to serve and grow our faith community on campus, but also reaffirm our unwavering commitment to education that builds character and purpose.

With a dedicated team of servant leaders, the Hub manages an array of programs designed to cultivate spiritual well-being, help community members walk closely with God, and encourage a life of faithful service. More than a campus ministry, the Hub for Spiritual Life is a vital expression of Pepperdine’s Christian mission.

Student-Led Ministry

A vital initiative within the Hub is the Student-Led Ministry program, a dynamic ministry that trains and empowers students to lead their peers in spiritual exploration and growth. Recognizing the college years as a pivotal season of self-discovery and transformation, the program offers students the opportunity to engage in focused Bible studies, theological reflection, and service projects. These activities not only encourage spiritual development, but also foster deep and lasting friendships. As students navigate this critical chapter of life, the Student-Led Ministry helps them gain clarity on their calling and prepares them for life after graduation.

The Well

Complementing the work of the Student-Led Ministry, the Well is a popular Wednesday night worship service. This weekly event takes place at the amphitheatre—in the center of campus—and provides a vital space for students to experience an immersive, Christ-centered worship service that fosters deeper connections with God and one other. Through powerful worship, teaching, and prayer, students are able to find refuge from the rigors of their studies and the complexities of their daily lives.

Being able to take a step back and realize, ‘Alright, this is who God says I am: a child of God’; just getting that reestablished in you is why spaces like the Well are so important.

Student Discipleship Ministry

Through intentional discipleship, the Hub team is helping students to grow in their faith, develop a closer relationship with God, and live in activated faith daily. The Discipleship Ministry Team (Hub staff) exists to bring and sustain discipleship culture into the ÃÛÌÒÇι«Ö÷community for the benefit of all students to feel encouraged and supported. Following in Jesus’s example, team members are committed to a model that is both relational and invitational. To expand the impact of this initiative, the Hub leadership team is exploring ways to introduce intensive off-site conferences and training sessions, as well as grow our small-group discipleship spaces—where authentic relationships, spiritual accountability, and mutual encouragement can flourish.
